QR Codes are two-dimensional (square) bar codes that can be read by all modern browsers, across all platforms – but specifically mobile smart phones. They can be any form of data, but are most often used as web addresses for a page or site. These generally do not “belong” on a website, but act as a bridge from physical media to the web. They also facilitate mobile browsing as links that are more easily navigated when browsing on mobile “touch” devices… and given the prevalence of these devices, their use is generally smarter than not. The Empire State Mason has started using them on some articles and promotional snippets.
